STRATEGY

BIGGING UP SMALL FARMS PROJECT GROUP

This group consists of small producers in Highland and considers support, training and ways they can benefit from collaboration with other growers.

LOCAL FOOD ECONOMY THEMATIC GROUP

The local food economy thematic group supports businesses and stakeholders in the local food sector. Representatives from wholesalers, small producers, retail and tourism sit on this group.

HEALTH AND WELLBEING THEMATIC GROUP

The health and wellbeing thematic group focuses on the role of food and growing in mental and physical health. The group consists of members working in health and wellbeing roles in Highland, e.g. people working in the NHS and in social prescribing. This group decides the domain and aims of relevant project groups.

SUPPORT GROUP

The support group consists of representatives from all of the thematic groups, as well as some HGFP core team members. The support group’s function is to support, provide advice and expertise to the thematic groups, as well as to make sure the news from each thematic group is shared with the others

EDUCATION AND TRAINING THEMATIC GROUP

The education and training thematic group focuses on improving food and growing education in schools, colleges, providers of practical training and adult education as well as highlighting the links between food, health, waste and better diets.

COMMUNITY FOOD THEMATIC GROUP

The community food thematic group supports projects arising in community contexts e.g. allotments, food banks, community growing, community markets, etc.

SCHOOL PROJECT GROUP

This group is looking at improving food and growing education in schools in Highland.
